Ugo Lachapelle

Professor of Urban Planning
Department of Urban and Tourism Studies, ESG UQAM

My research primarily focuses on active transportation (walking and cycling) and public transit use, aiming to inform public policies related to urban planning, transport network development, and public health.

In my work, I explore the relationships between individual travel behaviors and the characteristics of the urban environment and available transport infrastructures. I analyze these relationships through the lenses of travel ease, accessibility, safety, perception, individual choice, and public health.

I specialize in the statistical analysis of survey data, as well as the processing of administrative and open data related to travel patterns and the characteristics of physical environments and networks. My expertise in questionnaire design and the development of sampling plans is complemented by my proficiency in developing qualitative data collection methodologies.
